About

About Hästspark

Hästspark is a raw, energetic, and unapologetically honest band from Sweden, blending elements of doom, stoner rock, and alternative with a distinctly Nordic edge. Known for their live shows and enormous riffs, the band has carved out a place of their own in the Scandinavian underground scene.

The Band

Formed in Avesta in 2020, Hästspark started as a fun project between Joseph and Leo united by their love for loud guitars, song writing, and DIY culture. Since then, the band has evolved into a powerful live act and a growing creative force with a more serious take.

Current members:

  • Leo Lyckholm Rehné – Vocals/Guitar

  • Jonathan Ekvall – Drums

  • Joseph Nordström – Bass

Together, they channel everything from raw punk energy to melodic melancholy, drawing inspiration from bands like Sleep, Black Sabbath, and Kyuss, while maintaining a voice that’s their own.

Sound and Style

Hästspark’s music hits hard, with fuzzy guitar riffs, pounding drums, and earth shaking bass. The band’s style moves between punchy & bluesy anthems and slower & doomier tracks.

Their lyrics dive into themes like mental health, monsters, love and noncence. There’s often a mix of seriousness and irony — sometimes poetic, sometimes brutally straightforward — but always somewhat real.

Releases

Hästspark has released several singles and Albums, including:

  • “Ostiarius Inferni” (2023) – The debut that introduced the band’s new and restless sound.

  • “Iron Horse” (2023) – The opening track on "Ostiarius Inferni" that developed into a somewhat "theme song" for the band.

  • “Los Viperos” (2024) – A bold step forward with a more desert rock sound.

All music is independently produced and distributed, staying true to the band’s DIY spirit.

Live Shows

Hästspark is best experienced live. Their shows are sweaty and loud. Whether it’s a packed club, a tiny basement, or an outdoor stage, the band delivers a performance that may give you neck damage and sticks with you long after the last note.
